Free Stuff...What did you get?

well, for those ps3 players that stuck it out through the Network outage...we were offered all sorts of free crap...

a free movie that nobody wants to see...
a 'teaser' membership in playstation plus

anyway..we also got some games offered to us...

I took Stardust:

a rip-off of the old asteroids game, with exciting new twists...crazy enemys, 3 types of lasers for 3 types of asteroids (rock,ice,gold)..shields, and of course bombs..ill admit this game was a pain in the ass at foirst. but since each planet as 5 levels, and they are mostly the same each time...im getting the hang...

I took Dead Nation:

very much like the 'dead ops arcade' except a lil more stradegy and a lil less mayhem, it is kinda fun FINISHING a level of zombies, then moving on to the NEXT level...lots of guns to upgrade..including a shotty and flame thrower (so far)...

over all..would i have bought them? prob not..BUT they are both a lot of fun, in limited doses...

anybody get either of those? i think not cuz the highscore battle right now on stardust is between just me and weapon (arcade/normal)...

anyway i know a lot of people got LBP and infamous..how are they working out for ya?

I slacked and didn't get anything in time. I wanted to play AC:Brotherhood while I still had the Plus membership for the trophy's that only available with Plus, but I never got around to it. Story of my life!!

well as far as I know, you are still eligable, arent you? the plus membership is for one month from activation...

I got infamous and dead nation. infamous seems alright but I havent played it that much. dead nation got all of about 5 min of my time and I doubt it will see any action again.

ya know..thats exactly what i said about dead nation..i played for 5 mins and was like...mehhh

BUT i got backinto it last weekend, or week or something, i started trying, and i started getting better, then i started upgrading weapons, learning tricks...and i said ..hmmm this is kinda fun...ill shoot you an invite fredd...like it or not...

ya, LBP seemed like a game for younger players...i have NO idea wht it is about, but it never attracted me...

i think infamous must have been the "hit" of the free downloads...but im tellin ya, stardust is actually kind of fun, nice break form COD for me...

ahh need some tips Weapon?

ok...collect bombs...two on the transport ship in almost every level

use shield...protects your multiplier second shield works as a bomb, or let it degrade into a weapon powerup

dont watch the clock, get each level under control before you start the next, dont worry about the time bonus

the powerups for weapons cycle rockcrusher>icesplitter>goldmelter, so hold out for the power up you need for that level

i like using the goldmelter on the green catapillars..just fly slow and aim it behind you, in fact goldmelter is great against lots of enemys

lastly, look for the "countdown" asteroids, shoot them in order for a massive bonus

keep a finger on the bomb button, it's a lifesaver

Brock - totally opposite to you! Loved LBP, so much so I have it on my PSP...

How can you guys like infamous? its clunky, looks shit, stupid colours and even worse control map. Eugh. couldnt stand the demo. Despite that, out of the lot (I already had Rachet & Clank) I went to download Infamous, and it wouldn't download!

It didn't matter, I was happy with PSN+ subscription, as you could also download Burnout but its now expired????!!! wtf is that all about? I thought the games were urs to keep?!

Has anyone else had this experience??

Additionally, if you've got a PSP account, you could have download two PSP games from a list which includes LittleBigPlanet, ModNation, Pursuit Force and Killzone Liberation. I had bought LBP already on PSP so got Killzone Liberation and Modnation Racers.

It is good to be back on indeed.. I did see that the PS3 retail price was dropped $50. Possibly a reflection of the shortage??

The rule of supply and demand states that as supply is low, and demand is high; prices rise, whilst when supply is high, and demand is high; prices fall, right?...

ya kemp, basic economics...perhaps Ram meant a "shortage" of people dumb enough to buy a ps3

of course, new system should be on the horizon in the upcoming years, im sure demand for the ole ps3 has dropped, mostly 13year olds birthdays, and guys that need a replacement...(like me )
