YES...Zork is a TBA....or text based adventure...

it was not the first....but it was one of the biggiest hits for Infocom...later bought by a company you may have heard of...Activision...

yes there were computer games before computer graphics

BUT you had to READ and THINK...epic fail with todays teens....

Im glad, that the guys at activision still rememember, the first computer character i ever 'killed' was that stupid troll in the basement...

and my sword glowing blue when i was close to danger...i guess that was the first 'baby monitor' LOL

i never beat that game...i found the theif's lair in the maze, but he was always too fast for me with his knife...any hints?

Zork Nemisis (well, the story line was pitched, and new ideas were used, ya the graphics wereekik asss (for the time) but i look at it as the day the 'good' storylines died...now stories were just backfill to briefly explain a game...)

I remember playing Hitchhikers Guid to the Galaxy on my uncle's old XT, or maybe 286 back int he day. Alot like Zork.

I tried playing, but using that keyboard sucked balls, and I was only able to get into the forest before getting to frustrated.

I did manage to get out into the OS and launch the virtual therapist. Very helpful I might add. She helped me work out my COD:KDR issues, and I'm happy to report that, after some long therapy sessions, I am feeling much better.

One of my nephews was also able to logon as Hudson. Apparently he located the info in the Intel he had collected. Now I gotta go get all the intel so I can log on as Nixon, and get the real scoop on Watergate!!

While on the subject of TBA, did anyone else ever play any MUD's (multi-user domain). It was also text based, but multi-player.?

dark- what are you talking about with the OS and logging on as Hudson?

On the computer behind the chair, where you enter DOA to access Dead Ops archade, or ZORK to start playing Zork, you can also browse the system using dir and CD (to change directories). You can also login in as other users (use WHO to get a list of users with logins) and can also rlogin (remote login) to another, remote, system. Not sure what the other remote systems are, but I'm gonna start reading Masons files for clues.

BTW, you can type HELP and the command prompt ($) to get the list of available commands.

JT: doing zork without a keyboard would suck...you only enter 2 word commands 'take knife', 'drop bottle', 'go west' but just typing that all the time would be a major pain...
